B+LNZ Preparing for Southland Land & Water Plan Hearings

3 farmers Thursday, 27 April 2017 8am-10am or 10.30am-12.30pm: Gore (venue to be confirmed) By farmers. For farmers

This workshop will help levy payers prepare their hearing statement for the Southland Water and Land Plan hearing commencing 22 May 2017.

Environment Southland has announced that the Southland Water and Land Plan hearing will begin on 22 May.

For those farmers who entered a submission on the Plan, we urge you to now stand up and speak to your submission at the hearing. This is a key component of making sure council hears your story.

B+LNZ will be running the following workshop to help levy payers prepare their hearing statement:

What’s the process from here?

  1. Tell Council when you’re available to speak at the hearing. Shortly, everyone who submitted and ticked the ‘yes I wish to be heard’ box will receive an email from Environment Southland. Environment Southland will ask farmers to indicate their availability during the week of hearings (week beginning 22 May), and will use this information to draft a hearing schedule (i.e who will speak and when).
  2. Prepare a hearing statement. Everyone presenting at the hearing will need to write a hearing statement and submit this to Environment Southland by 12pm on Friday 5 May. You can speak at the hearing if you entered a submission and ticked the box that said ‘yes – I’d like to be heard’. This workshop is to help you in writing your hearing statement and support farmers in the lead up to the hearings.

B+LNZ can also run a workshop with your catchment group on 1 and 2 May. Please let Julia Beijeman (contact details below) know asap if you want us to come to your catchment group.
